Indialantic Force soars to soccer tournament title
FOR FLORIDA TODAY • September 22, 2009
The Indialantic Force Under-12 girls’ competitive soccer team is off to a fantastic start to the 2009 season.
Coached by Jay Karlovitch and John Williammee, the team claimed the championship by placing first in the Under-12 Continental division at the 11th annual Girls Labor Day Challenge on Sept. 7.
The Force tied Space Coast 2-2 in the first game and defeated the Cooper City Red 6-0 in the second game. In the final game of Group A play, the Force beat Creeks Clash White, 5-0, a win that catapulted the Force into the tournament semifinals.
Facing the Group B winner Renegades, Force goalkeeper Krista Kihlander held the opposition scoreless through regulation, then blocked a final penalty kick shot to send Indialantic through to the championship game against the Space Coast Storm.
Shelby Freeman of Indialantic used some amazing throw-ins and penalty kicks to help the Force into a 2-2 at the end of double overtime.
The Force’s Lauren Williams, a strong defensive player, then rocketed a shot from mid-field, sailing it into the net and handing Indlalantic the title.
“We have the best possible players with talent and desire since the inception of the team,” Karolvitch said.
Karolvitch credits the dedication of the parents and the hard work of the girls. The team has sponsors which keep costs down.
Karolvitch said last season’s countywide ranking for the Force has fueled the momentum for this season and expectations are high.
In the squad’s first tournament this summer, the Force finished third in the Flagler Invitational, narrowly missing second following a 2-1 loss in the playoffs.
Indialantic’s Under-19 boys’ State Cup Team defeated Satellite Beach, 1-0, to win the final of the Fusion FC Puma Labor Day Tournament in Tampa.

The U-12 girl’s competitive Indialantic Force soccer team is off to a fast start.  The team has been undergoing a constant rebuilding to create the most competitive team to represent Indialantic.  The team is full and had an over welling response to spring tryouts.  Coach Jay Karlovitch stated “we have the best possible players with talent and desire since the inception of the team”.  He credits the dedication of the parents and the hard work the girls have put forward.  The team has sponsors which keep costs down as compared to other competitive soccer programs.

The Indialantic Youth Soccer Association (IYSA) has supplied the team with the best possible training and a consultant that has won numerous state championships.  In preparation for the up coming season, the Force has been scrimmaging teams over the summer including the Vero Beach Vipers, a top team in the area.

Last season’s countywide ranking has fueled the momentum for the season and expectations are high.  In their first tournament of the year, the Force finished third in the Flagler Invitational, narrowly missing second by a 2-1 loss in the playoffs.

Look to the Force for a strong showing this season!

It was a great weekend for the U12 FORCE GIRLS. The team clinched first place in their group and a spot in the second round of Regional play. Saturday the girls opened with a very hard fought game against a familiar foe, Space Coast United. Final score was 0-0.

The team’s second game on Saturday was played vs. Jacksonville, who was a Finale Four team last season. The scoring opened on a great goal by birthday girl Sophia Carroll. The girls never looked back with scores by Maleia Storum, Stephanie Arrington and Andrea Templar. Force win 4-0.

Sunday the pressure was on, with a "win your in, lose your out" scenario. Their opponent was another '08 final four team in FSA Warhawks. Stephanie Arrington was on fire and was unstoppable scoring 2 goals. With another goal from just inside the 1/2 line by Rachel Jenkins, and a fine finish by Sophia Carroll, the Warhawks were done!!!!  Final score 4-1.

Great job by the whole team finishing with a 2-0-1 record and only giving up 1 goal the whole weekend!!!!

Coach Lew Storum said after “The leader of this team is truly this team!!!! I am very proud of the girls". The celebration won't last long as it's back to long practices and hard work to prepare for the next round played 2/28 & 3/1 in Vero Beach.

INDIALANTIC FORCE U10 GIRLS FINALIST AT ORMOND BEACH
Our Indialantic Force U10 Girls team competed in the Ormond Beach Challenge this weekend January 17/18 in two groups. On Saturday our U10 Girls won their first two games against two teams in their group 2:0 and 2:0 placing them first in their group. On Sunday they played the FS Lady Hammers 99 from Atlanta GA, who were also first in their group and the Force were defeated 0:6. Sunday afternoon both teams competed again for the overall championship and the score was 1:1 at half time and 1:3 final placing the Indialantic Force in 2nd place Finalist out of six teams. The championship game was extremely exciting with both teams putting in absolute effort and will to win.

Announcements

The INDU18 boys participated in the Adidas Columbus Day Classic in Tampa on 10/11-12. In this tournament there were many quality teams that are currently in the top ranking here in Florida.  The Boys grouping was not the exception, our boys faced their biggest challenge and were able to successfully reach the finals with two (2) wins (Westside and HC United), no loses and one (1) tie (Strictly Soccer).  The finals were very exciting both teams created a lot of chances, our team played hard but in the final 8 minutes we conceded a goal, and lost 1-0 to Tallahassee United.
