The U19 Boys' Force State Cup Team defeated Satellite Beach 1-0 to win the final of the Fusion FC Puma Labor Day Tournament, previously known as the Black Watch Tournament, in beautiful Tampa, Fl.
After the opening whistle, the boys were putting pressure on their opponent, the undefeated Satellite Beach Lighting. The Force dominated possession throughout the game, and Satellite Beach were allowed one shot on goal in the game in a suffocating team defensive performance.
In tournament play, the Indialantic Force went 2-1-1, defeating SCP Black 1-0 in their opening match, 1.5 hr later, in a 95 plus degree weather they faced their next door neighbors Satellite Beach playing their first game of the day with very fresh leg losing to them 4-0.
The boys recovered from such unexpected loss and came out to play their third game of the tournament and beat FL Revolution 5-0 and in their fourth game against the host Fusion FC Blue and tied 2-2.
The Indialantic Force could not wait to get their rematch game going against the only team that has defeated them in their last four tournaments and the only team that has done so coming from Brevard County. What a better way to do it that in the tournament finals. Both teams once again were brought face to face to establish who is really the best team on the beachside.
As soon as the referee blew the whistle for the kick off, the Force were very determined to win the game having plenty possession of the ball and with the more clear chances to score than their rivals, their goalkeeper was the factor that the game ended up 0-0 in regular time and overtime having saved three 1v1. Overtime was not enough to declare a Champion so a kick from the 12 yard mark was necessary.
Kicking order was as follows:
1st Malcolm Finlay Cpt.
2nd Callum Wilson
3rd Johan Braithwaite
4th Luke Heavens Cpt.
5th Alan Jackson
They all scored to give the Indialantic Force their fourth consecutive tournament victory.
Joel Bristol, Force goalkeeper, saved their third penalty kick and gave them the victory of 5-4 beating their beachside rivals Satellite Beach Lighting.
Next scheduled tournamentfor the Force is theAdidas Columbus Day Classic Soccer Tournament October 9-11, 2009 at Ed Radice Sports Complex in Tampa, Florida. This is the tournament that they came up short, losing in the finals seven minutes to the end by score of 1-0 against Tallahassee Football Club.
